Like the Mod Wheel, this CC is intended for real time performance modulation. Common mappings include adding vibrato, or adjusting filter cutoff. It can be assigned to a variety of different controls in your synthesizer/sampler/effects units. The Mod Wheel is one of the most used CC messages. This is used in combination with program change commands. Most instruments just receive the MSB with default 7-bit resolution. These high res assignments are defined by combining two separate CCs, one being the Most Significant Byte (MSB), and one being the Least Significant Byte (LSB). Some instruments can receive higher resolution data for their MIDI control assignments.

MIDI NOTE NUMBER 33 MANUAL
If you don't have the manual or can't google one, try a few to see if they work. It's usually in the back and it is usually called the MIDI implementation chart. There should be a list in your synth manual. Note: Not all synthesizers respond to all CC's. For all others, the higher the value, the more intense the effect is. The most commonly used CC's are in bold typefaceįor most controllers marked (on/off) controllers, on=127 and off=0. You use these to add expressive devices like add vibrato, add abrupt or gradual volume changes, add and control the amount of reverb, tremolo, and/or chorus, and so on. Use these controllers to manipulate your MIDI data to make the music more expressive. Here is a list of the standard MIDI continuous controllers. List of Standard MIDI Continuous Controllers (CC's)
